What do you like about your role and the sectors you work in?
I like the variety in my role, it is extremely diverse, and it can change from day to day depending on the needs of my customers. I enjoy meeting people, solving problems, providing product advisory and technical support, and liaising with clients to create ‘value added’ specifications, aligned to meet the project brief with the applications and budgets in mind . I also find it rewarding to coach, mentor, and manage the Irish team, as well as working with them in collaboration to deliver complete future proofing solutions for the Irish construction market.
What challenges are driving many businesses today in the markets you work in?
There is a constant demand, as the marketplace evolves, for more and more sustainable solutions for building interiors, that will minimise the environmental impact on the planet and its people. ‘Healthy’ innovations that last as long as possible, with proposed end-of-life options is something that the industry is souring across the board. I am delighted to be able to showcase our loose lay collections to customers and demonstrate how these world class products don’t compromise on design or performance, whilst also being eco-friendly. This especially applies when it comes to low carbon footprint, recycled content, recyclability, VOC,s, Formaldehyde, and efficient manufacturing and transporting of goods. Also having a UK warehouse for our fast-moving stocked collections, reinforces Gerflor and Gradus as credible player as a combined business that services the local markets with its wide breadth of product offer.
What are your favourite Gerflor and Gradus solutions and why?
My favourite solutions from Gerflor include the loose lay Technical tiles offer including ‘GTI & Attraction’ and the recent addition of the ‘Design tile’ collection to the family. With no adhesives required and minimal subfloor preparation, these fast-track innovations are perfect for refurbishments and new build projects, especially when time is of the essence. With no need to close a premises, our customers save time and money, whilst also being able to transform their interiors with contemporary designs. Let’s not also forget their outstanding performance when it comes to durability and ease of maintenance.
My favourite solution from Gradus would include the digitally printed ‘Artwork’ Wall cladding offer. It’s a perfect solution to transform an interior environment by printing a bespoke image on to a durable sheet, whilst also protecting the wall from everyday scuffs and scrapes. Ideal for use in areas of moderate traffic such as meeting rooms, treatment areas and reception spaces, and offers our customers a great way to promote their brand by printing their company logo or strapline in a highly visible and impactful way.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I am very much a family person, and proud to have 3 children, Sophia (12 years), Josh (8 years) and Joanne (4 years). As a family, we are always active, especially when it comes to sports and exercise. Sophia plays at Larne Football Club and Josh plays with the Glentoran Football Club, my wife and I are always at each Game as ‘avid’ supporters . When I do get any time to myself, which is in fact very rare … I love to play golf and have some quality ‘man’ time. As a family, we also enjoy taking short breaks and trips around Ireland to see local landmarks and scenery, where we will walk for hours on end, and the adults eventually finish for a ‘deoch’ or as Irish say ‘on the lash’ at a local Tavern.
